Summer Blockfest Returns to Hoboken for Its 4th Year
Get ready to vibe with dope hip-hop beats and good times — the ultimate summer block party is back. Summer Blockfest, Hudson County’s free Hip-Hop Festival and Community Celebration, returns for its 4th Annual event on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 770 Jackson Street in Hoboken, New Jersey.
From a Neighborhood Idea to a Hudson County Tradition
Founded by community advocate and cultural organizer Victor M. Lopez Jr., Summer Blockfest has grown from a grassroots neighborhood gathering into one of Hudson County’s most impactful cultural events. Since its inception, the festival has transformed Hoboken’s Southwest neighborhood into a vibrant hub of music, art, and community engagement — earning recognition from local media and the City of Hoboken for its continued cultural and civic impact.
The festival is powered by What Hoboken Sounds Like and What Jersey City Sounds Like, two community platforms dedicated to spotlighting local artists, entrepreneurs, and creators across the region.
“Summer Blockfest was built to create opportunity, celebrate culture, and bring people together,” said Victor M. Lopez Jr., Founder of Summer Blockfest. “What started as a neighborhood idea has grown into a platform that uplifts local talent, supports small businesses, and showcases the creativity that exists throughout our communities.”
What’s New in 2026
Staying true to its motto, “From the Block, For the Culture,” this year’s festival delivers its most dynamic lineup yet:
Live Hip-Hop performances throughout the day
Food trucks and local culinary vendors
Streetwear, art, vinyl, and local marketplace vendors
A Back-to-School Book Bag Giveaway, presented in partnership with the Hoboken Public School District
Live DJ sets from BriPee, Mister Angel, Madness, Takefive, and Shuffle
A live beat showcase presented by N3rdy Mcfly
Family-friendly activities and community engagement experiences
The 2nd Annual Pamela Bates Foundation Awards Ceremony, honoring individuals making a lasting community impact
This year’s giveaway initiative is a particularly meaningful addition — providing free book bags and school supplies to local students as they head back to class, reinforcing the festival’s long-standing commitment to youth development alongside its music and culture programming.

A Platform for Local Talent
Beyond a single afternoon of entertainment, Summer Blockfest remains dedicated to fostering community pride, supporting local businesses, and creating meaningful platforms for independent artists and youth engagement. Operating on a no-pay-to-play model, the festival continues to use Hip-Hop culture as a vehicle for unity, education, and opportunity across Hudson County — now in its fourth year and still growing.
