In February 2024, What Hoboken Sounds Like gave a shoutout to School of Rock Hoboken and shared an untold backstory from the first Summer Blockfest.
A festival without sound?
In 2023, WHSL was brand new to organizing festivals. When the first Summer Blockfest was approved, the team had less than 20 days to pull it off and find an audio system. They reached out to a lot of people, but most charged exorbitant fees or declined over potential liabilities.
In the end, Rachel and her staff at School of Rock came to the rescue, providing the sound system for the entire show. Without them, WHSL couldn't have showcased the 22 hip-hop artists on the bill, and School of Rock graced the festival stage as well. "Thank you, Rachel and staff, for taking a chance on us!" WHSL wrote, adding that it hoped to partner with them again. They did: School of Rock returned to Summer Blockfest 2024.
"Rock is indeed the cousin of hip-hop!" School of Rock Hoboken is part of a chain of music schools offering music education for all ages, located at 720 Monroe Street, Unit E104, Hoboken. Rock on!
