Ruben Ramos Enters the Hoboken Mayoral Race

Ruben Ramos mayoral announcement

Hoboken 4th Ward Councilman Ruben Ramos officially entered the race for mayor in February 2025. He became the fourth candidate in the non-partisan November 4 election.

Ramos is a public school teacher and a former three-term state assemblyman. He has served on the City Council since defeating former 4th Ward Councilman Tim Occhipinti in 2015, and won re-election in 2019 and 2023, the latter unopposed.

"I'm running for Mayor to get Hoboken back to basics and make sure that we address critical needs like improving public safety, protecting our quality of life, ensuring that we have strong programs for our seniors and our children, and taking action to make our city more affordable," Ramos said.

He joined Councilwoman-at-Large Emily Jabbour, former U.S. Treasury official Dini Ajmani and Councilman Michael Russo in the race for the open seat, as Mayor Ravi Bhalla pursued a 32nd Legislative District Assembly seat instead of a third term.
