Proclamations Honor Hoboken’s Community Champions: Victor Lopez Jr. and Margarita Garcia

On Wednesday October 9th, the City of Hoboken awarded proclamations to Victor Lopez Jr., CEO and founder of What Hoboken Sounds Like, and Margarita Garcia, founder of Little Linguist and senior advisor to What Hoboken Sounds Like, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the community.

Victor Lopez Jr. expressed his gratitude for the honor, emphasizing his commitment to amplifying local voices through events like The Summer Blockfest and SW Fest Hoboken, which celebrate the city’s cultural diversity. He thanked his incredible staff, especially his wife and co-founder, Amanda Dale-Lopez, and his senior advisor, Carmelo, for their unwavering support. Receiving this recognition during Hispanic Heritage Month holds special significance for him.

Margarita Garcia shared her humble appreciation for the proclamation, reflecting on her upbringing in Hoboken and the importance of giving back. As a senior advisor to What Hoboken Sounds Like, she is dedicated to supporting underserved youth and ensuring that Hoboken remains a “village” that nurtures its residents. Margarita acknowledged the role of her family, mentors, and team at Little Linguist in her journey.

Their recognition by the City of Hoboken highlights their commitment to creating an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
