In March 2023, WHSL talked about history being made and barriers being broken in Hoboken, starting with two young men: Mr. Deranged and Fliight.
The two were given the chance to showcase their artistry at Finnegan's, fusing their hip-hop and rap sound with the sounds of rock. For years, Hoboken's bars and venues had offered very limited space for rap artists to show their talents. WHSL called this a step forward and told the city's bars and venues to take note.
The two conducted themselves very professionally, and WHSL said they may have opened the door for everyone to come together at local establishments, "because music is indeed the language of love, no matter the genre!"
