Little Linguists is hosting a fundraiser at its Y Mas location, 257 1st Street, on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 6 to 9 PM, in support of the short film "TUSUY."
The film is being produced in Peru from April 24 to 29. Carter Naranjo, an NYU Tisch sophomore and the daughter of Little Linguists co-founder Susan, is serving as the film's U.S. producer. Since opening their Spanish immersion child care center in 2017, Susan and her co-founder have championed the lasting benefits of bilingualism, and the project is a proud example of where it can lead.
The evening
The night celebrates the Quechua language with a Quechua poetry open mic, where guests can bring short poems for members of the NYU Quechua Club to translate. Director Darinka Arones will talk about her journey as a filmmaker and what inspired "TUSUY." Expect live music, Hispanic hors d'oeuvres, raffles and drinks. The event is 21 and over.
Supporters who can't attend can share the event or donate through the TUSUY fundraiser or on Venmo at @LLHoboken with "TUSUY" in the comments.
