In January 2023, WHSL spotlighted young Hoboken fashion designer and entrepreneur Joseph Petruzzelli (@joepet._). At just 13, he launched his first high-end sneaker store, Elite Kickz, selling clothing from high-end labels and rare limited-edition sneakers. Within two years it had two locations: 407 Washington St, then 630 Washington St. With bigger aspirations for his own brand, he closed shop to build his streetwear label, 1Prspct.
What can we expect from you in 2023? "In 2022 I had some distractions and setbacks and I want this year to be my comeback year and take things to the next level!"
Fashion influences? A diverse style, from baggy and vintage to urban, inspired by the early 2000s, Michael Jordan, Virgil Abloh and just walking down the street.
What does Hoboken sound like to you? "Hoboken is like a mini New York to me. From rappers to designers there's a lot of talent and potential waiting to be seen."
