2023 Maximum National Champions
Hoboken's Cheer Dynamics All Stars Mini Prep 1.1 and Junior Prep 2.2 teams were crowned 2023 Maximum National Champions at Maximum Cheer & Dance's Northeast Nationals, their last competition of the season. #earnednotgiven #hobokenproud
The road to Nashville
In mid-March 2023 the Mini Diamonds ranked 1st in their division for the third straight time, and a week later the Mini Diamonds and Junior Jemz both took 1st again, the fourth straight win, despite both teams' music getting cut short. "Now that's Hoboken for y'all, nothing but heart!"
Taking Nashville
In early April 2023, CDA took Nashville by storm at the One Up Super Grand Nationals: the Junior Jemz won 1st place and the national title with the highest score, and the Mini Diamonds took 3rd after winning their previous four competitions. Both teams hit zero. #CDAtakesNashville
U.S. Finals champions
Weeks earlier, on April 22, 2023, CDA's Mini Diamonds (level 1.1) and Junior Jemz (level 2.2) won the U.S. Finals, taking home the highest scores of the night along with the winning banner, jackets, medals and trophies. "Hoboken breeds natural-born winners!"
The season wrap party
CDA wrapped the season with a memorable party full of joy, music, awards, surprise gifts and love: a celebration of the hard work, commitment, enthusiasm and teamwork behind a successful season, made possible by the parents, coaches and families of the athletes.
Special recognitions went to:
- Courtney Roselle (@courtney_roselle), a former WWE tryout and NBC Titan Games contestant, who gave an inspiring speech as guest speaker
- CDA alumna DJ BriPee, who provided the music
- Kristen Ibarra of Events by Kris10, for the decorations and setup
- Ali Kohut (@asb1211), for a slideshow showcasing the season
- Victor of What Hoboken Sounds Like, for designing the new CDA logo on the varsity jackets the athletes received as a surprise gift
Tryouts for the next season were set for May 22 and 24.
In June the team received a city proclamation. See also: the WHSL hoodie and Cheer Dynamics.
Impact Cheer
Earlier in the season, in March 2023, Cheer Dynamics' Tiny Sparkles, Mini Diamonds and Junior Jemz all won 1st place at the Impact Cheer competition at Brookdale Community College, and Junior Jemz were also named grand champions. What a win for Hoboken!
Coastal at the Capital
In February 2023, the Junior Jemz were crowned national champions and the Mini Diamonds took 3rd place at the Coastal at the Capital Grand Nationals in National Harbor, Maryland. "These girls work so hard every week leading up to each competition... We are so proud of you!!"
Battle at the Boardwalk
In January 2023, the Mini Diamonds took 2nd place in their division at the "Battle at the Boardwalk" in Atlantic City. They hit zero and won the Golden Ticket to US Finals. "Each and every time they go up to perform, they blow us away with their skill and poise at such a young age."
Opening the season
The season kicked off with a showcase on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 6 PM at the Multi Service Center, 124 Grand St.
Then came the Spirit Cheer Super Nationals: 1st place for the Junior Jemz and 3rd for the Mini Diamonds.
The next weekend, the Junior Jemz became NCA National Champions, Best Use of Jumps Award winners and US Finals Gold Bid winners. The Mini Diamonds, with a teammate out sick and last-minute routine changes, still placed 4th in an extremely competitive division.
